Made with Xara © Lorem ipsum dolor 2010 © Lorem ipsum dolor 2010 © Arkansas Pathology Associates 2010 Arkansas Pathology Associates, P.A., offers the highest quality of cytology services, including the ThinPrep® Pap test.  Conventional Pap smears are also offered.  The ThinPrep® technology improves the accuracy in interpretation of Pap tests.  It also provides the cytotechnologist and the pathologist with a slide that is not obscured by blood, mucus, or debris, leaving a slide with a monolayer of cells.  It has been proven to be more effective in identifying high grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the uterine cervix.  In addition, the ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance) rate is less than that of the conventional Pap smear since the drying of slides is no longer a factor.  Utilization of a liquid based collection technique also provides residual sample for additional tests to be performed.  Reflex testing can be done from the ThinPrep® Pap test vial for chlamydia, gonorrhea, Herpes Simplex I/II, and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).  See Molecular Pathology for additional information. In addition to the high quality of services offered, Arkansas Pathology also has a highly experienced staff of four cytotechnologists, with an average of twenty-one years experience per person. Arkansas Pathology is proud to offer a very competitive turnaround time for our specimens.  For a routine Pap test, over 80% of cases are signed out within 24 hours of receipt of the specimen.  If the Pap is abnormal, needs to be reprocessed, or has other issues, the turnaround time can increase by one to two days.
