FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q 1. What is a pathologist?

A pathologist is a medical doctor with specialized training to determine the
presence and type of disease in tissue and fluid samples from the human body.
Pathologists work closely with other healthcare providers to offer treatment
recommendations and monitor ongoing conditions.

Q 2. I have never been to Arkansas Pathology Associates, why am I receiving a bill?

Anytime an anatomic or clinical specimen is generated while at a physician’s office
or hospital, it is sent to our lab for preparation, diagnosis, or professional services.
This is not included with office or hospital charges. Our pathology services are billed separately.

Q 3. How can I request a copy of my pathology report?

All reports are sent back to your physician. We ask that you obtain the report from
their office. If you are unable to obtain your report from your physician, it may be
obtained at our facility in person with a signed authorization form and photo
identification.

Q 4. How can I pay my bill or ask a question about my bill?

To pay your bill, you can click the “Pay Your Bill” button on the Home Page, Patient Resources Page,
and the Contact Us Page on our website. You will be taken to a secure link where you may make a
credit/debit card payment. You may also call our business office to make a payment over the phone.
Check or money order payments can be mailed to P.O. Box 3380; Little Rock, AR 72203.

Q 5. Did you file my insurance?

Insurance information is received with the specimen from the physician office or
hospital. If insurance information is provided (including primary, secondary, etc.),
we will file a claim with the corresponding insurance(s).

Q 6. Do you accept payment plans?

Yes. If you are unable to pay your entire balance in full, you may call our business
office to set up a payment plan.

Q 7. What are your business office hours?

Our business office hours are Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Q 8. Can I have my specimen back after pathology is completed?

No. Due to chemicals used for fixation, specimens are not released back to the
patient.

Q 9. Can I get a price of what I will be charged before I see my physician?

An estimate can be given based on the procedure that will be performed. An exact
price is not able to be determined due to the lack of information available before the
procedure. It is not known how many specimens are generated until after a
procedure is performed as well as the stains that will be required for diagnosis. That
information is not available until after a pathologist has issued a diagnosis.

Q 10. What insurance does Arkansas Pathology Associates accept?

Due to our relationship with hospitals in the state, our laboratory is contracted with
all insurance companies.
